Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how Banshee Technologies S.L. ("we", "us", or "our"), a company registered in Spain, handles information in connection with the GhostInk mobile application ("the App"), available on the Apple App Store.

We are committed to protecting your privacy. The App has been designed with a privacy-first approach: all steganography processing happens locally on your device, and we do not collect personal data.

2. Information We Collect

We do not collect any personal information. Specifically:

• No user accounts or registration are required
• No names, email addresses, or contact information are collected
• No analytics or tracking tools are used
• No cookies or similar technologies are used
• No advertising or ad-tracking is present
• No message content or encoded data leaves your device

3. On-Device Processing

GhostInk uses Unicode tag characters to hide secret messages inside emojis. All encoding and decoding operations are performed entirely on your device. No message content, secret text, or encoded emojis are ever transmitted to external servers.

The steganography engine runs locally with no network dependency. Your secret messages remain private at all times.

4. Local Storage

The App uses on-device storage (AsyncStorage) to save a small amount of non-personal data, including:

• Your saved emoji stash entries (encoded emojis with custom labels)
• App preference data

This data is stored exclusively on your device and is never transmitted to any external server.

5. iCloud Sync (Pro Users)

If you purchase GhostInk Pro, the App offers optional iCloud Key-Value Store sync to keep your stash entries synchronized across your Apple devices. This data is stored in your personal iCloud account, managed entirely by Apple, and is not accessible to us. We do not have access to your iCloud data.

6. Third-Party Services

The App integrates one third-party service, which does not receive personal data:

RevenueCat

We use RevenueCat (via the react-native-purchases SDK) to manage in-app purchases. RevenueCat processes transactions through Apple's StoreKit framework and may receive an anonymous device identifier to manage purchase status. No personal data is shared with RevenueCat beyond what Apple provides through StoreKit.

7. Clipboard Access

The App accesses your device clipboard to allow you to copy encoded emojis and paste emojis for decoding. Clipboard data is processed locally and is never transmitted to any server. The App only reads clipboard content when you explicitly initiate a paste action.

8. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise share any user data with third parties, because we do not collect any user data.

9. Data Retention

Since we do not collect personal data, there is no personal data to retain on our servers. Local data stored on your device (stash entries and preferences) remains there until you delete the App or clear its data. iCloud data (Pro users) is managed by Apple and can be removed through your iCloud settings.

10. Your Rights Under GDPR

As a company based in the European Union (Spain), we comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Although we do not collect personal data, you retain all rights granted under the GDPR, including the right to:

• Access — Request confirmation of whether personal data is being processed
• Rectification — Request correction of inaccurate data
• Erasure — Request deletion of personal data
• Restriction — Request restriction of data processing
• Portability — Request transfer of data in a machine-readable format
• Objection — Object to data processing

11. Data Security

We take security seriously. Because all data processing occurs locally on your device, your messages and stash entries are protected by your device's built-in security features (device passcode, biometrics, encryption). We have no remote access to any of your data.

12. Children's Privacy

The App is not specifically directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has somehow provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can address it.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
